Terms and Conditions
Last updated: [date] · Version 0.1 (draft)
1. Who we are
Crazy-Odds ("Crazy-Odds", "we", "us", "our") operates the website crazy-odds.com (the "Site"), through which we run paid, skill-based prize competitions. [Insert registered company name, company number, and registered office address.] You can contact us at [support email] or via our Contact page.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, entering a competition, or otherwise using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Notice, our Cookie Policy, our Acceptable Use Policy, and the specific terms published on each competition's page (together, the "Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
3. Eligibility
- You must be 18 years of age or older to register an account or enter a competition.
- You must be a resident of the United Kingdom, unless a specific competition states otherwise.
- You may not enter if you are an employee, contractor, or immediate family member of Crazy-Odds, or of any third party directly involved in the administration, judging, or prize fulfilment of a competition.
- You are responsible for ensuring your entry is lawful in the jurisdiction from which you are entering, if outside the UK.
- We may require you to verify your identity and age before releasing a prize, particularly for high-value prizes.
4. Your account
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering, and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity on your account.
- One account per person. We may suspend or close accounts we reasonably believe are duplicated, fraudulent, or being used to circumvent per-customer entry limits.
- You may request deletion of your account at any time, subject to our record-keeping obligations (see our Privacy Notice).
5. How our competitions work
Crazy-Odds runs prize competitions that require a genuine skill, knowledge, or judgement-based question to be answered correctly as a condition of entry. This is not a game of chance: an entry is only accepted and allocated a ticket number if the qualifying question is answered correctly. [This clause must be reviewed by a solicitor and aligned with the specific legal structure and question-difficulty standard we are advised to use — see the note in Section 9 below.]
- Each competition page states the prize, the entry price, the maximum number of entries, the entry closing date, the draw date (where known), and the draw method.
- The number of entries available for each competition is limited to the figure stated on that competition's page. We will not sell more entries than that stated maximum.
- Entries are allocated a sequential or randomly assigned ticket number, as stated on the competition page, once payment has been confirmed and the qualifying question has been answered correctly.
- We reserve the right to extend a competition's closing date only in limited, disclosed circumstances (for example, technical failure preventing entries from being purchased), and any such extension will be published on the competition page.
- If a competition does not reach its maximum entries by the closing date, the draw will still proceed as advertised on that competition's page, unless the competition-specific terms state a different mechanism (for example, a guaranteed prize draw regardless of entries sold).
6. Payment
- All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and include any applicable VAT unless stated otherwise.
- Payment is processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
- An entry is only confirmed once payment has been successfully settled. If payment fails or is not completed, no entry is created and no ticket number is allocated.
- We may cancel and refund an order if we reasonably suspect fraud, payment error, or a breach of these Terms.
7. The draw and winner selection
- Draws are conducted using the method stated on the relevant competition page (for example, an independent random-number draw), from confirmed, eligible entries only.
- Winners will be notified using the contact details on their account. It is your responsibility to keep these details up to date.
- If a winner cannot be contacted or fails to respond within [X days] of notification, or does not meet the eligibility requirements in Section 3, we reserve the right to select a reserve winner or re-run the draw, as stated in the competition-specific terms.
- Verified winners will be published on our Winners page, using only the level of detail (for example, first name and general location) that the winner has consented to.
8. Prizes and the cash alternative
- Where a competition offers a cash alternative, the amount is stated on that competition's page and is calculated as a percentage of the advertised prize value.
- Winners must choose between the physical prize and the cash alternative (where offered) within the timeframe stated during the prize claim process.
- Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for anything other than the stated cash alternative, where offered.
- We may require proof of identity, age, and eligibility before releasing a prize or cash alternative.
- Delivery or collection arrangements for physical prizes will be confirmed directly with the winner.
9. Important note on the skill-question requirement
[This section requires solicitor drafting and must not be finalised from this template.] The lawfulness of running competitions of this kind in the UK without a gambling licence depends on entries genuinely requiring skill, knowledge, or judgement, applied consistently and administered so that an incorrect answer is actually rejected. This is the single most legally sensitive part of the business and must be signed off by a solicitor with experience in UK prize competition law before this page — or the site — goes live.
10. Refunds and cancellations
- Once an entry has been confirmed and paid for, it is generally non-refundable, except where required by law, where we cancel a competition, or where a payment or system error resulted in an incorrect charge.
- If we cancel a competition before the draw takes place, all confirmed entrants for that competition will be refunded in full.
11. Agent referral programme
Individuals approved as agents under our referral programme are subject to a separate agent agreement, which sets out commission rates, payment terms, and conduct requirements. [Cross-reference the agent agreement once drafted — this should clarify whether agents are independent contractors, affiliates, or introducers, per Section 14 of the original scope, and should be reviewed alongside employment-status and financial-promotion implications.]
12. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Site in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy, including not using bots, scripts, or automated means to enter competitions, not creating multiple accounts, and not attempting to manipulate or exploit the skill question, ticket allocation, or referral system.
13. Our liability
[Requires solicitor review — the following is a starting structure only.] Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Subject to that, our liability to you in connection with the Site and any competition is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant entry, except in relation to the delivery of a won prize, where our liability is limited to providing that prize or its stated cash alternative.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we will give reasonable notice before they take effect. The version of these Terms in force at the time you entered a specific competition will govern that entry.
15. Complaints and disputes
If you have a complaint, please see our Complaints Procedure. These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. [Confirm jurisdiction approach with a solicitor if we intend to accept entrants from Scotland, Northern Ireland, or outside the UK.]
16. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to [support email] or via our Contact page.
